Innovation Bay, the angel pitching and networking event series, has its first win!

Scancam was founded in Perth by Eoin Byrne and Anthony Schmidt and is a cloud based solution that provides smart technology to detect and deal with fuel theft incidents. Scancam was a client of Innovation Bay sponsor Applabs, and Byrne came to an Innovation Bay event to network with likeminded tech entrepreneurs and investors, as he says:

“We came to the Innovation Bay event seeking $500k in investment and were able to meet a room full of active investors. One understood the value of our business and was able to lead the round and assist us in securing the full amount, as well as make some introductions to other client prospects. The introduction to Innovation Bay has not only helped with our early stage investment but allowed us to get the right support to help us accelerate our growth”

The team has also engaged with Deloitte, another Innovation Bay sponsor, on their Deloitte Connect platform and with the Deloitte R&D team to help with Scancam’s R&D strategy.

Innovation Bay brings together Entrepreneurs, Angel Investors and Business Leaders through a series of speaker breakfasts, focus dinners and exclusive Angel Dinners. Launching in March 2015, each event has been a sell out success that culminates in the quarterly Angel Dinners, in which entrepreneurs are invited to submit their startup in a 90 second video pitch. The three videos that receive the highest votes from our investor members are then invited to pitch for funding in front of a select group of angel investors at our next dinner. At the May event Geo Moby, Switch My Loan and GeoSnapShot were able to pitch and all are in on-going follow up conversations with Innovation Bay Angel Investors.

The next event is a Speaker Breakfast with Kohen Grogan at 7.30am on Wednesday the 24th June, at Kailis Bros in Leederville. Kohen is the founder and inventor of Yappy – an intuitive social media marketing platform that allows users to manage viral campaigns, harvest databases and track conversions from content across any platform on the social web. Their clients include McDonalds, Thermomix and Pandora Internet Radio – where they helped them attract 2 million Australian subscribers in their first year. Kohen was named one of three Rising Australian Tech Stars to watch in the Virgin Voyeur Inflight Magazine in 2014 and runner up in the National Rising Star 30 under 30 awards. Kohen will share his founder story from “garage-startup” to working with leading global brands and then provide insight on ensuring return on investment from your social media marketing spend.

Innovation Bay is a free, membership based organisation, so to join the growing community of people wanting to inspire innovation and technology in Perth and to keep up to date with coming events, head to: http://www.innovationbay.com/membership/apply
