METS Ignited has opened the third round of its ‘Collaborative Project Fund’ and applications are now invited…

Do you have an innovative and collaborative METS (Mining Equipment, Technology and Services) project that needs commercialisation?

METS Ignited has announced an opportunity to secure matched funding of between $100K and $3M.

METS Ignited is a government-funded, industry-led Growth Centre for the METS sector. Its mission is “to strengthen Australia’s position as a global hub for mining innovation, and, enhance the global competitive advantage of the Australian METS industry.”

METS Ignited Chair Ric Gros said the METS Ignited Collaborative Project Fund was designed to support, encourage and fund sector-wide collaboration.

“We want to see projects that involve multiple METS companies working closely with an end-user, such as a mining company, system integrator or OEM. It is essential that projects are collaborative and industry-led with clear commercialisation applications,” Mr Gros told Startup News.

“This round of funding will have a particular interest in robotics and automation, however all applications will be judged on their merits and on their likely impact on the METS and mining sector.”

Projects need to address one or more of the following:

  • METS Ignited’s Industry Knowledge Priorities (IKP) in Sector Competitiveness Plan;
  • key mining challenges;
  • establishment of METS Living Lab nodes/sandpits as part of an industry wide Living Lab network;
  • blue sky opportunities where solutions do not currently exist.

Applications close 31 August 2018.

Collaborative projects which include participation from the research community are also encouraged.

Free information sessions on how to apply

Information sessions are being held across Australian in June and July. The sessions are an opportunity to explore the fund in more details with the METS Ignited team. The events include a one hour session about the project fund process and an opportunity to network. There is no cost to attend but registration is essential.

  • Kalgoorlie – 28 June 2018
  • Perth – 29 June 2018

Register now to attend a session.

The METS Ignited Project Fund can be accessed by industry via an Expression of Interest process. A template and further information is available on the METS Ignited website.
