In our fifth episode, we talk with the incredibly busy and high achieving Jemma Green, Chair and cofounder of the local energy blockchain startup Power Ledger …
If you are interested in the amazing world of blockchain, initial coin offerings (ICOs) and crypto, this is the podcast for you. Power Ledger’s ICO was the first in Australia and raised a staggering $34M last year.
Jemma tells us about growing up in a large family in the hills of Perth and an influential moment in a school public speaking competition that fired her lifelong love for learning which now includes a Masters in Sustainability and a Doctorate among other things.
A few years out from university, she went off to London for 11 years to work in investment banking before returning to Perth becoming a research fellow at Curtin University, board member of the Water Corp and the Deputy Lord Mayor of Perth.
In 2016 she was introduced to some local blockchain developers who seemed to have the technology that she thought might be the answer to a big customer problem she was looking to solve. Power Ledger was born.
Speaking of births, Jemma is also a mother of two (her latest was born just a couple of months ago), prefers red wine to white and her favourite podcast at the moment is LinkedIN cofounder Reid Hoffmans’ Masters of Scale.
